Responsible for reviewing loans to ensure that grading is accurate, acceptable credit standards are maintained and loans are in compliance with established loan policies.


  • Analyzes and conducts systematic loan reviews of business-related credits to ascertain adequacy of credit quality and loan documentation and compliance with established policies. Identifies credit risk and assigns a grade.

  • Monitors, tracks and analyzes performance of multiple companies in various industries.

  • Cognizant of signs indicating increased risk and adjusts workflow to focus on most significant issues.

  • Reviews on schedule certain loans which are held for follow-up or review.

  • Detects potential problem loans at early stages.

  • Performs initial review of Special Attention credits and creates a Special Attention Report for relationship manager follow-up.

  • Attends various standing credit approval committees to stay apprised of new credit relationships and monitor existing relationships.

  • Detects adverse trends in credit quality, underwriting standards and loan monitoring.

  • Measures the appropriateness of and adherence to credit policies and procedures.

  • Interacts with relationship managers and other lending and loan documentation personnel regarding credit concerns.

  • Prepares annual portfolio memos identifying risks and summarizing findings.

  • Performs process reviews as directed.

  • Assists with training and mentoring of less experienced loan review personnel.

  • Completes all compliance training as scheduled.

  • Develops knowledge and expertise in the area of regulatory issues especially in relation to the lending function and complies with the requirements.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentrations in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.

  • Five (5) years’ experience preferred or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.

  • Prior lending and/or credit experience preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Self-directed; highly motivated.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time well.

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good PC skills--proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel essential.
