Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Training of other employees for all of the processes included in the by-product management of the customer's waste streams and recycling capacities.

  • Must possess the knowledge of all of the basic functions of sorting and processing, to operating powered industrial equipment and large mechanical equipment.

  • Requires direct supervision of shift employees.

  • Provide support to the Shift Supervisor including paper and computer work, supervision, and training.

  • Responsible for providing coverage of the Shift Supervisor in the event of their absence (sickness, vacation, meetings).

  • Perform the collection, movement, sorting, and processing of all wastes and by-products in a fast paced manufacturing facility environment safely, and in accordance with Company, Federal, State and local regulations/rules.

  • Utilize tricycles, motorized trucks, pallet jacks, fork trucks with attachments and other handling equipment to process and move material from the processing area to the trailers, roll offs, and containers within the facility.

  • Safely operate equipment to process materials including hand tools, balers, and compactors.

  • Properly sort materials based on pre-established guidelines for additional processing.

  • Ability to utilize the company's barcode scanning computer based program to properly track the waste collected.

  • Perform cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed.

  • Utilize knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations, as well as the companies' policies and regulations.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: 2 years of previous supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: Basic knowledge of EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations preferred. Ability to understand general industry practices. Should be able to exercise decision making and independent judgment. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Ability to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to meet all physical requirements of position (standing, bending over, squatting, etc.) Computer program knowledge required (Microsoft Word & Excel). Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
