Position SummaryEnsures quality and accuracy of all orders. Reroutes bad or incorrect orders and prepares them for re-entry into the system. Consults with the appropriate personnel on recurring problems. Completes the production process for printed material by operating bindery equipment, to include Folio, Cutter , and Stitch and Strip. This job description may describe one skill (or part of a skill) within a multi-skilled production team member job.Key Duties / ResponsibilitiesMoves stack of documents ranging in weight from 5 to 15 pounds from conveyor to work station. Voids top sheet of checks with hand-held roller stamp. Pulls off sample sheet to be used at validation station. Stamps QA# on batch header of every run of checks. Ensures quality of orders. Proofreads all jobs. Checks beginning, ending, sequential, and consecutive numbering, checks padding, collating, punching, stitching, and zone, and checks shipping labels. Inspects quality of MICR printing. Voids sample sheet to be used at validation station. Moves 5 to 15 pound board of checks to conveyor for boarding. Staples run batch header to sample check for validation. Reroutes bad or inaccurate orders and prepares them for re-entry into the system. Collects excess checks and dirty sheets. Collects sample sheet from each run of checks to present to QA. Consults with appropriate personnel on recurring problems. Immediately notifies press operator of any errors. Cleans and restocks workstation as necessary. ( 50%)Operates bindery equipment in an efficient manner - moves work from conveyor to equipment; ensures work is even as it moves thru the equipment to prevent jams; pushes buttons to operate equipment; removes work from equipment; performs required quality checks; moves work from equipment to conveyor; cleans and restocks work station. (50%)Performs other bindery tasks as assigned to include boxing. Operator has the latitude to kill-out orders that need to be reprocessed due to defects in the printing or binding processes. Prioritization and selection of jobs to maximize work flow while balancing meeting the rush and service commitments and goals. Experience / Skills / Abilities RequiredMinimum 0 - 3 years previous machine operating or production experience in a team environment preferred. Average to above average mechanical ability helpful. Communication and Contacts RequiredCommunication is primarily with other bindery workers and facility management.Physical Requirements / Working ConditionsVarious responsibility qualifications include ability to exert up to 50lbs of force occasionally and lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and/or frequently. Strength and manual dexterity needed to move objects and will be standing for duration of 8 hour shift.
