Lilly Research Scientist-Insulin Biology in Indianapolis, Indiana
Do you have expertise in metabolic physiology and insulin signaling? Are you a dedicated scientist with a passion to make life better for those living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes? The Diabetes and Complications Therapeutic Area (DCTA) at Lilly is looking for an In Vivo Pharmacologist – Insulin Biology, who can play a key role in developing the next wave of innovation in insulin therapeutics. You will establish a state-of-the-art research laboratory focused on developing in vivo models to study traditional and non-traditional insulin and glucagon receptor agonists. You should have strong knowledge and technical skills in the field of diabetes, metabolism, and body weight regulation with particular focus on the molecular mechanisms of insulin action. You will have the chance to define and progress your ideas from target identification to proof-of-concept testing in humans, working collaboratively with scientists in the DCTA and with internal and external partners. Are you inspired by the science and the desire to make a difference? Consider joining Lilly to make a positive impact on the lives of our patients.
Potential opportunities in this role include:

Design, conduct and supervise studies in preclinical in vivo models, aligning resources to meet short- and long-term goals.
Provide preclinical biology leadership on cross-functional project teams by partnering in a team-driven approach to expeditiously tackle challenges and advance projects.
Collaborate with colleagues working to enable next-generation insulin delivery devices including closed-loop artificial pancreas systems.
Maintain scientific expertise and presence in the external scientific community through publication, collaborations, and presentations in the areas of diabetes and metabolic disease.
Expertise in subcutaneous biology and absorption of therapeutic compounds from subcutaneous tissues is desired but not required.
Knowledge of glucagon biology/pharmacology is a plus.
Proven track record of scientific accomplishments as evidenced by high impact publications.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups while advancing project and strategic goals.
