Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Production Supervisor will be responsible for (but not limited to) overseeing primarily the Communications (electronic) production process during the 2nd shift operations while being the management representative for the entire site. This is a late afternoon and evening position. This person will provide supervisory support for off shift manufacturing operations within the Indianapolis Personal Safety Division manufacturing plant.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership to all direct reports to continuously improve Safety, Quality, Service, Cost and Engagement.

  • Provide direct supervision to assigned employees through leadership, coaching, training and development, allocating work assignments, review of progress in achieving objectives, managing employee compensation and performance appraisals. Supervise and train employees on all aspects of the electronic manufacturing process and operations to provide customers with quality product.

  • Develop methods to improve the quality and cost of materials through process and product improvements.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, identify and resolve non-routine problems with electronic assemblies.

  • Work with the Planning Team to schedule and coordinate on time shipments.

  • Monitor contingent workers time sheets for weekly submittal.

  • Insure Safety rules are adhered to by all employees.

  • Maintain chemical storage inventory.

  • Ability to work in a fast pace demanding department dealing with multiple tasks.

  • Champion Continuous Improvement for the department and participate in all continuous improvement activities for the department.

  • Supervise and manage all functions involved in the production of 3M products in a safe and economical fashion.

  • Use leadership and supervisory skills necessary for managing people such as knowledge of employment law, knowledge of corporate and location policies and procedures, effective communications, performance appraisal procedures, performance management, hiring and interviewing, documentation, interpersonal skills, coaching skills, change management, conflict resolution, delegation, goal setting, motivation, emotional intelligence, and strategic planning.

  • Use corporate and local systems such as Workday, time and attendance systems.

  • Supervise off shift employees in various production departments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

  • IPC610 Certification.

  • Minimum three years supervisory experience working in a make-to-order manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience with electrical assemblies.

  • Excellent communications both oral and written.

  • MS Office proficiency.

  • Green Belt certification.

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation: Is authorized
