This position will:Perform plumbing installations and replacements of university water systems, waste systems, steam lines and refrigerant linesRenovate and modify existing plumbing systems to maintain in good working orderInstall new lines and valves as required by equipment neededConnect new equipment to meet specified needs of customersTroubleshoot and repair problems with plumbing systemsAnalyze and develop plumbing layout of installationsDetermine and purchase supplies necessary for installations and repairsOperate underground locating equipmentEnsure compliance of construction to local plumbing codesMake recommendations for equipment purchasesPerform multi-craft maintenance and other tasks as required by department workloads and prioritiesAssist with campus utilities shutdownQualifications Required:High school diploma or equivalentFive years experience in general plumbing Proficient in the installation of water lines, waste lines, steam lines, refrigerant lines, fixtures, and valvesFamiliarity with local plumbing codes, flow capacities, and restrictive flow characteristics of pipes and fittingsJourneyman plumber license requiredSkills in soldering copper fittingsMust have a valid driver's license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policyMust be able to lift and carry 25 to 50 pounds frequently; up to 60 pounds occasionally along with occasional pushing and pullingAdditional Information:Review of applications will begin immediately.
