The field-based Energetics Chemist position is an exciting, fast-paced role with the technical services team. The Tradebe Energetics Division is looking for an intelligent, self-motivated problem solver who does not mind travel. The selected candidate will be tasked with remotely opening and stabilizing energetic chemicals for universities and research labs all over the country as well as collaborate with other technical services offices to complete projects as needed. When not scheduled in the field, the selected candidate is expected to aid Energetics Plant personnel at Tradebe Treatment and Recycling in East Chicago, IN. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Remotely open and stabilize potentially energetic chemicals on location for clients
  • Package chemicals in the field per DOT guidelines
  • Identify and ship compressed gas cylinders
  • Prepare Health and Safety Plans for Field Projects
  • Receive and process compressed gas cylinders
  • Build and maintain compressed gas delivery manifolds
  • Operate and maintain scrubber systems
  • Operate and maintain a chemical reactor in the Cylinder Processing Center
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, or related science
  • One year of experience as a field chemist or related industry experience, preferred
  • HAZWOPER trained, preferred
  • Complete a pre-employment DOT Physical
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must have valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Must have ability to obtain a CDL Class B License with Haz-mat endorsement within 6 months of hire
  • Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment such as respirators
  • Must enjoy traveling upto 80%
