The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist to ensure that the right drug is in the right place at the right time for the right patient. Duties include procurement, preparation, delivery, returning, restocking, and quality assurance checks. Adherence to Patient Safety initiatives is of utmost importance to all Pharmacy employees. Pharmacy technicians are under direct supervision by Pharmacists. This position does not provide direct patient care.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Indiana Tech-in-Training permit required within 28 days of hire unless already have an Indiana Pharmacy Technician License. Pharmacy leadership may extend this deadline if employee has met eligibility, but waiting for State Board of Pharmacy approval.
- Indiana Pharmacy Technician License required within 6 months of hire unless already have an Indiana Pharmacy Technician License.
- Training and educational support toward taking the national pharmacy technician certification exam (CPhT); required within 1 year of employment
