Job Description

Job Summary:

The EMT/24 HR EMS provides basic life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility transport under the direction and in collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Initiates and implements interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.

  • Provides population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.

  • Inspects, maintains and cares for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Minimum Qualification: Certification specializing in Advanced Resuscitation credentialed from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Minimum Qualification: Certification specializing in ER Vehicle Operation obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Minimum Qualification: Drivers License credentialed from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. With acceptable driving record

  • Minimum Qualification: Licensed Emergency Medical Tech specializing in Basic obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • One or more of the following:

  • Minimum Qualification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. American Red Cross Professional CPR/AED Rescuer accepted during onboarding

  • Minimum Qualification: International Trauma Life Support obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • Minimum Qualification: High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum Qualification: Diploma-Completion of EMT course.
